“Get up, stand up, stand up for your rights! Get up, stand up, don't give up the fight!” – Bob Marley
Songs for Good exists to amplify the good through music.
We've launched the 2020 Challenge, a non-profit songwriting contest to amplify civic engagement movements in the 2020 election cycle. We are crowdsourcing new anthems to fuel participation in our partner movements, that crowds will roar from coast to coast before November 3rd, in-person or online.
Well before the current pandemic, we saw an opportunity to connect music and people power through a competition to create a new soundtrack for democracy. And in hundreds of conversations with organizations, musicians and regular folks, there was clear consensus: "yes, we need this."
Now with everyone physically isolated, music and solidarity are more important than ever. The rules are more important than ever. And who makes the rules is more important than ever.
It’s time to take action that matches the urgency and magnitude of the challenges we face — and our partner organizations are doing just that, mobilizing thousands of everyday Americans to fix what’s broken.
We decide the future, and the future is now.
Have you heard of the 3.5% Rule?
Nonviolent protests engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.
So what do these changemakers need to reach that tipping point?
New anthems. That's where you come in.
Your voice is the future. Let’s hear it.

BECOME A PARTNER
Want to be a partner organization? Send us a note!
We're seeking partners doing big things to shape our future for good - civic engagement and creative organizations striving to make our democracy more open, inclusive and collaborative. Because our challenges are too big for any other way.
Being a partner includes promoting the Challenge by encouraging submissions and getting your membership to participate in the second and third round vote. And then finally, vocalizing the anthems far and wide.
We’re open to other possibilities too, just reach out.
